macbook air vs macbook pro for me?

Macbook air - 128gb 13" + 8gb ram no processor update.

Macbook pro - 128gb stock

Macbook 12" - 256gb

Usage - video watching, YouTube, web browsing, pages, light Photoshop (few times a year), vnc to desktop for heavy stuff, light gaming.

So I am looking at these I feel regardless of air I feel 8gb is worth 8gb, storage will be pushed to nas/desktop PC, it will be used for uni work, I'm switching to engineering but if I do any cad desktop will deal with it hence vnc.

So would the air do or should I step up to pro for the little extra, apart from uni I'm never far from a wall for charging

The 13" Macbook Pro with Retina Display is definitely a good machine to use. It can handle pretty much any task, big or small, with desktop-like speeds. I think it can do pretty much everything you've listed, and it's not too bad portability-wise. (3.48 lbs)

would you recommend 8 or 16gb pro? Portability is up most for me but with the conversion of weight (I'm in UK so kg) pro is fine, keep in mind I get a 15% discount due to been a student

AIso what accessories would you recommend to protect it in travel?

The flash storage of the model is more important than its memory, really. I currently own a 256 GB 13 inch Retina Macbook Pro, which has 8 GB of memory. Brenthaven is a great company that has a ton of good bags and sleeves for the Macbook Pro, and pretty much any laptop.
