Is there software to block ads in safari mail? I have tried AdBlock and AdBlock Plus but do not work.

Since you are accessing your email via Safari, whether it's Gmail, Yahoo, etc., you need to use their filters to block ads. It's not like using the OS X pre installed Mail app.
