My MacBook Air (both the 9" and the 13") works fine with both my 23" and 30" CinemaDisplays. the news Macbook 12" however, only works with the 23" CinemaDisplay. Anyone have an explanation to this out there?
Thomas...
I've connected MY MacBook Pro to a 30" Cinema Display...
Also, I had connected it to my 32" LCD Samsung TV before.
You'll probably need a Thunderbolt adaptor. But, your MacBook
Video SHOULD be able to drive the Cinema Display just fine!
Just make sure you have the Cinema's Power Adaptor (etc).
Good Luck...Chip
If you're asking about the 12" "MacBook" and not the MBP or MBA unfortunately no... There is no USB-C adapter for it yet.
I have now got the official answer from Apple. The new MacBook works with 21" and 23" Cinema Display but NOT with the 30" Cinema Display. They did not provide an explanation but all three displays works fine with all MBA and MBP I have tried, it is just the combination of 30" Cinema Display and New MacBook 12" that does not work 😟 Had I known this I would probably have purchased an new MBA instead of the new MacBook.. Not easy to find a large display that matches the looks og MacBook..
The Apple USB-C to HDMI multi adapter works fine, there are also third party adapters available. I use both Apple Cinema Displays and DELL displays and they have worked fine with the New MacBook, it is just the 30" Apple Cinema Display that does not work with the 12" MacBook.
