When installing a new app that I already have..

I have an app that I need to re-install on my computer and it pops up a message to update software/version. Once I check for updates it says everything is updated but when I go back to try and re-install the app once more, the message pops back up saying that software update is needed. How do I fix this problem??

Version: MAC OS X 10.7.5

PowerMac, iOS 8.3
