Q: 27" iMac® with Retina 5K display vs Non Retina
I have been fighting myself tooth and nail if I should return my iMac 27inch model (this one) or returning it for this one which would be like the "base" 5K modelI
I'm a photographer who works extensively with Photoshop with large format files and will possibly extend into video editing as well. I know how taxing video editing can be from my previous endeavors, but again will mainly be photo editing.
When I purchased my iMac I neglected to check what type of hard drive it came with. I turned it on and transferred some files and began to worry as straight from the get-go it was giving me spinning rainbows and loading/ booting up slower than my 2013 mac mini. I checked and found out it had a HDD drive and benchmarked slower than the other options.
I was about to return it with no hesitation for the fusion drive on the 5k Model when i realized the ram is not user friendly upgradeable.
So my question is, what should I stick to? User Friendly Upgradeable ram (which i know i will need) or the fusion drive?

It is i believe so but I read somewhere the 5K model isn't and that i'd have to stick to the 8gb of ram unless I decide to tinker (and subsequently burn myself ) with the hot gun or whatever its called
EDIT****But ah I clicked on your link and it seems very easy, I wonder why the information was being passed around that it would void the warranty/ be hard on the 2015 5k models. Sounds good then i'll give it a whirl thank you
The RAM in ALL 27" iMacs is user upgradable. If you doubt it go to an Apple Store or reseller and they will show you where the RAM door is located. If you decide to buy one and want to upgrade the RAM yourself, only purchase Crucial (buy direct) or from OWC (www.macsales.com).
