Strange osascript behavior

I have two Macs here, and on one of them, I've discovered that osascript appears to be entirely non-functional. If I run a script with osascript on the affected machine, nothing happens. No expected outcome, no output in the Terminal, no message written to the Console. The same script runs just fine in Script Editor, and runs just fine with osascript on the other Mac.

Anybody have any idea what could cause this, and how to solve it?

Edit: By the way, both Macs are running the latest version of Yosemite (10.10.4)

Figured it out... comparing the osascript binaries on each system, the one on the affected Mac was only 16,810 bytes, vs 38,944 on the unaffected Mac. So I copied the binary from the unaffected Mac to the affected one, used chown to change the owner back to root, and now all is working fine.

Not sure exactly how that happened, though! Very odd...
