Photostream issue

I have an iPhone 5S, with iOS 8.1.3. Photo stream enabled. iCloud Drive Not enabled.

Photos do sync pretty well between iPhone camera roll and photo stream.

The problem I have is: by deleting photos from camera roll, same photos automatically vanish from photo stream.

Is that how supposed to work?

On iOS8 , yes. You can no longer separately delete from My Photo Stream and the camera roll. My Photo Stream on the iOS8 devices is tied to the Camera Roll. Deleting from either Camera Roll or MyPhoto Stream will delete the photos in both places and in iCloud and on all devices syncing with My Photo Stream.
