RFI- upgrading OSX 10.3.9 to Leopard 10.5/ ibook G4

Specifications are: 1.07GHz Power PC G4 Processor, 1.25GB DDR SDRAM

Leopard 10.5 CPU Drop in DVD

I'm a 20+ year MS user with a new (to me) very well cared for ibook G4. I'm wanting to upgrade the OS and see conflicting information on the forums. I'm hoping some kind soul proficient with Macs can tell me 1) is it possible to accomplish the task, and 2) can I be directed to step-by-step installation instructions?

I've attempted the install & get the error message "you must have OSX 10.4 installed in order to install Leopard 10.5" Thanks very much in advance!

Hello & welcome to Macdom,

Leopard requirements/10.5.x...

* Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 (867MHz or faster) processor

minimum system requirements

* 512MB of memory (I say 1.5GB for PPC at least, 2-3GB minimum for IntelMacs)

Trouble is Apple no longer sells it, check eBay & such for the Retail version, not the Gray Discs...

As Niel points to,you tried using a drop-in upgrade Disc.
