I am working on a project and would like to use the lightning connector plug and receptacle. Are these components for sale and if so where? I don't want lightning cables and adaptors but the actual connector components. Thanks.

If you have a Radio Shack store nearby, they may carry the hardware you are looking for.
You might try a computer or electronics parts retailer like MicroCenter or Frye. Due to their miniture size they are very difficult to work with. They may be available only in large quantities for manufacturers.

The lightning connector contains 3 proprietary microcircuits, so it is not practical to work with an actual Lightning connector; it simply isn't available.
Too bad, it would have made a high density rugged connector. I will look at USB type C instead. Thanks.
