iMessage Won't Activate

Firstly, I have already followed all the advice in the forum, but to no avail.

I have an iPhone 6 running iOS 8.4

I recently switched service providers, while keeping the same mobile phone number.

During the switch-over, I was issued a new sim card, from the new service provider.

Ever since inserting it, I am no longer able to activate iMessage.

Interestingly, when I checked what my mobile number was, it was listed as BLANK / EMPTY.

I had to manually add it in.

I can make and receive calls / sms from the phone.

Simply, iMessage will not activate.

I contacted my service provider and they seem clueless and maintain it is not their issue.

I no longer have Apple telephone support, and online support, tells me to speak to my service provider.

Any suggestions?
