How can I add text to a picture using iphoto

Question

I wish to add text to a photograph and save the new version either as a replacement of the original or a new copy.

How can I achieve this using iPhoto?

You can export the photos and open it in Preview and use the Annotate tool to add text then save and import into iPhoto

Is a plug-in for iPhoto that will also allow you to put text onto an image. There is no way to ever replace an original in iPhoto.
