Fixed iPhone Fingerprint loss issue

Hi Guys.

Interesting confluence of events in the past 36 hours ... the iOS 8.4 came out, as did the Mac OS 10.10.4 to the delight of all us I am sure.

I found out that iBackupbot has an update to get, as well as all my utilities I use such as Tech Tool Pro 8 ...

and I found out about doing a Fireware update to the iOS as a normal restore will not do it.

Talking to the Genius specialist in going over all of the fact pattern, has I had kept things as they were for the diagnosis set came this discovery.

Turns out that Apple Care did not have me do a On/Off button push with the Home button so I could accomplish a firmware update along with the iOS restore.

I had to get home first and learn up on doing the sync with the Contacts book on my iMac as I do not use iCloud except for ICE app and crime prevention.

(for you guys who do not know, in iTunes with the iPhone plugged in there is the Summary listing that comes up for the Restore/Backup/Sync buttons ... well on that list at the bottom is 'info' .. and click on that for a back up of your contacts on the iPhone to be swapped across with the contacts on your iMac. Some people say to be sure you have at least one contact listed in your iMac contacts book and that is not be blank at first go.)

iBackupbot (which is free and good to have) also has this capability of saving your contacts and you can purchase other software that also does it ..

but here it all is with the Apple product you have.

Anyhow ... I got the back up done.

Pushed down the Off button and Home button until restart to the iPhone, kept the home button down until the USB icon to iTunes appears.

I did not have iTunes turned on ... so I had to restart the iMac so the iMac would recognize the iPhone that was plugged in.

On restart to the iMac ... iTunes was jumping on the dock ... clicked it open .. and the restore process started up automatically.

The firmware was put in (I had already downloaded the iOS update) and the iOS went in after ... took about 5 minutes.

All the music was in .. all the contacts were in .. settings were set up properly ... AND the fingerprints were in.

Also ... ALL THREE print scans work (before this I had lost number 2 fingerprint in using it the day before with the iOS update).

I am one happy camper ... to find an easy fix that is not a headache.

Good job code hackers over at Apple ... big pat on the back and an ATTABOY & ATTAGIRL ... from sumbuddie

I know it is team work that gets it done ... so all of you get happy howdie doodie from me.

I don't think I am going to lose the fingerprint access again ... as I considered it a software problem though that is not concretely set in my mind.

😉
