at&t beats family plan (don't lose playlist) instuctions!!! migration to apple music family plan

For those moving from the AT&T family plan to the Apple Music family plan this is how to do it and not lose your beats library and playlist. Well other then for music Apple hasn't gotten licensed to use for their service yet.

DO NOT SET UP YOUR iCLOUD FAMILY SETTINGS.

If you already have your iCloud Family Settings set up, you will have delete everyone except for the organizer.

Now open beats music and tap get started. (Link to help you walk though this processes in you find my instructions hard to follow.

The Apple Music app should open that only shows the 9.99 individual plan. At this point have everyone in the family tap this and sign up. Everyone gets a 3 month free trail so you shouldn't get charged anything for each individual account. (Link to help you walk though this processes in you find my instructions hard to follow... Move to Apple Music from Beats Music - Apple Support )

At this point the Apple Music app will start adding the info from your Beasts Music account. Once its finished tap the account icon in the top left corner in the Apple Music app.

Then tap "View Appple ID" and sign into your ITunes Store Account. Tap "Manage" under the "Subscriptions" menu. Tap your Apple Music Membership, which should currently be active. Then finally toggle off "Automatic Renewal" under the "Renewal Options" menu. (Link to help you walk though this processes in you find my instructions hard to follow... Manage your Apple Music membership - Apple Support click/tap turn off automatic renewal at top of webpage)

Now go set up or add family members back to your iCloud Family Settings. (Link to help you walk though this processes in you find my instructions hard to follow... Manage your Apple Music membership - Apple Support )

Sadly though if you don't do it like this the first time your screwed I haven't figured out any way to get it to work correctly after the fact.

If this works for you please reply that it does so that way others will be able to find it quickly and not lose their playlists. 🙂

If I find a way to recover playlists, I will post those instructions here also. I have a scheduled phone call with apple support at 7:30 PDT on the 4th and I'm keeping my fingers they will be able to help me fix the problem for my kids accounts that I messed up figuring out the above process.

Just need to give the app more time to retrieve the songs. The only issue I had similar to yours was if an album wasn't/isn't part of or not licensed for apple music. For example The Golden Age of Doo Woop isn't licensed to play on apple music I'm assuming and because its not in the iTunes store it just doesn't show up in my playlist at all anymore. Songs that seem to be in the iTunes store but not licensed to be streamed show up greyed out.

Hope that helps. 🙂
