Transferring data from one USB 3.0 HD to another identical drive is SLOW

  • I have a new iMac (iMac (27-inch, Late 2013)).
  • I have 2 MyBook, 3TB USB 3.0 external drives plugged into the back of my iMac.
  • I have to transfer 800GB from one to the other.
  • I am starting small, I selected a folder that contains 70GB of content.
  • The copy process says that's going to take "about a day."


Is this expected? Is there anything I can do to speed it up?
