Best VERY RUGGED iPhone6 (4.7") case??

I have a Defender (Otterbox), now; but I never could get a good tight fit cover on the screen. The screen is so beautiful, that I find myself, in EVERY CASE, removing the built-in plastic cover. (Is this REALLY bad, protection/water damage-wise??)

I had a Lifeproof for a little while..to be honest, it was SO light & thin, I just could NOT believe that it was as rugged as the Defender.

Are there any cases that are very protective, but leave the screen unobstructed?

ANY knowledgeable responses will be very greatly appreciated!!!
