messages won't connect to video calls, never starts

messages has always run smoothly for me and now all of a sudden when i am invited to or start a video call, i accept and then it never starts. i have great connection and everything is lightning fast besides that. I'm using my macbook in the same place I've always used it. I've even tried making new accounts,restarting thousands of times, nothing seems to work! please help!!
