Click on History, get Top Sites
The heading says it all really.
Whether I select History from the dropdown menu or do the keyboard short cut all I get is Top Sites.
What have I done wrong & how do I fix it?

Might be corrupted Safari preferences.
Quit Safari..
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste following:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
Click Go then move the com.apple.Safari.plist file to the Trash.
Relaunch Safari to test.
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
Click on History, get Top Sites
