I have successfully paired my Yamaha sound bar with my MacBook Pro after initially getting a 'pairing failed' message in the advanced bluetooth settings panel.

What helped me was disabling bluetooth on my iPhone - which I had previously paired with the sound bar. It seems that the sound bar will only let you connect one device at a time.
