iTunes 12.2 will no longer play music

I made the horrible mistake of updating to the new version of iTunes. I can no longer play music for longer than maybe 10 minutes before it stops playing music altogether, even music I have purchased from the iTunes Store. If this isn't fixed, it will be a huge disaster, since I use iTunes for all of my music. I haven't backed up my computer in a while because I was out of the country. Is anyone else having this problem, and has anyone figured out a fix for it? Is there a way to revert to the previous version of iTunes?
