how can u send a microsoft word doc (2003) via email and maintain format?

I have a white macbook from 2006: osx 10.4.11.

My question is regarding emailing a microsoft word (2003) document.

What do we email it so the receiver sees the doc exactly as we've formatted it?

Of course you have to send it as an attachment, not simply copy and paste. Then the recipient has to have an application which can open MSW files.
