Q: when I power up I hear the chime but it takes 30 seconds or more to see the apple.

I have a macbook pro, osx yosemite, 8gb and when I power on i hear the chime but the screen remains black for 30 seconds or more. This is new. I have tried all the remedies recommended on help screen including resetting the smc.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014), OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)
