adjusting mail filter preferences

A few of my inbound emails are ending up in the trash even though they are from senders well known to me and with whom I have corresponded regularly. There is probably a filter somewhere within Mail Preferences that is dumping the inbounds, but finding the troublesome filter - I have so many set up now - is impossible without spending lots of time. I would like a search facility for phrases featured in the filters to show me where a word or phrase is lurking so it can be adjusted to stop incorrect trashing.

Ideas anyone?
