12.2.0.145 ratings coming and going in Windows?

***? I've upgraded to this desktop version (under Windows 8.1) and the ratings (and sometimes whole album listings) disappear, only to magically reappear later. I've changed the setting in Edit / Preferences/Ratings to Stars, but still the ratings and album listings come and go. What's going on?
