Can't play my music without wifi/data after IOS 8.4 download?

I updated my phone the other night while backing it up. It seems with the new ios 8.4 I can't access my music while I am at work where we don't have wi-fi. All my songs are greyed out and if I try to play one it says "Connect to Wi-fi to Play - to play songs when you aren't connected to wi-fi, enable cellular playback in Itunes & App Store in the Settings app". I don't want to turn on cellular data to listen to music that is stored on my phone (is this different from cellular playback?). Is there something I need to do to allow my music to play?

I also do not want to try the Apple Music free trial and have not signed up.

iPhone 5s, iOS 8.4

If the music is stored on your phone the songs should display a little grey phone symbol on the top right hand corner to indicate they're on the device not in the Cloud. It's a quirk of the interface though that this doesn't always seem to appear, and if you're sure that all your music is on the device, just go to the option menu (...) for the album or artist and select 'Make available offline' and that hopefully will trick the app into letting you play your music.

The music was stored on my phone, but after updating I'm not so sure anymore. I don't see a grey phone symbol. I tried the "make available offline" and it says "downloading".. am I going to have to do this to 3000+ songs?

If you haven't signed up to the free trial then you shouldn't have access to iCloud Music Library which in turn shouldn't have replaced you existing library. Not sure what's happened there.

😟 sigh. I don't understand either, because it is in fact acting like the music is from a cloud or some downloadable source. I'll have to do some more digging..

I just re-synced my phone and all my music is back after disappearing earlier 🙂

I'm having the same problem and am so frustrated. I don't want to have to re-download all the music either. By doing that does it use your data. There has to be a better way

What did you resync as there seems to be multiple options. When you re-synced did you have to go back and update all your wifi access codes
