Brand New 12" Retina MacBook - Should I Fear The New OSX Update?

Reading a few posts in here about people losing their Windows partition, I've got a one-month-old Retina MacBook running Windows 8.1 under Boot Camp. I don't use the machine using OSX, ever, I only use it for Windows, so if I nuke it accidentally I'm in huge trouble.

Wondering if anyone can let me know if I'm safe to update OSX on my particular machine or if the issues some are having are related to other things that wouldn't affect me. Clearly if there is no benefit to my Windows experience I can skip this update forever as I don't use my Mac as a Mac, use it as a Windows PC.

If you do not use OS X as a primary OS, an upgrade to the new OS X version is of no value to you. You have a stable environment, keep it that way.

If you want to play around with the new OS X version, install it on an external disk and boot from it to play with it, and leave your internal disk untouched.
