just got an email from support@apple-cgi.com stating that I purchased an ipad case, and to be shipped to some unknown person in CA.
Is this a phishing email

The email is not from Apple, it's a phishing attempt to try and get your account and payment details - forward it to Apple : reportphishing@apple.com , and then delete it.
