When I play music through my home entertainment system originating in Pandora, Amazon Music, or my own ITunes library it cuts out intermittently. When I stream music through Roku using the same home entertainment system, there is no such problem. Thus it doesn't appear that it is an internet problem, or a problem with the amp or speakers. Any ideas what this might be?

It isn't internet but rather the local network. Another device working doesn't rule that out.
If on wifi try connecting via ethernet.
To see a current status of the network go to istumbler, netstumbler or similar. Look for signal strength, noise, nearby networks.
Thank you. I had not considered this possibility, but I have one question. If my Roku is streaming through the same local network without any problems, does this change your advice?
No, as noted another device working does not rule out a network issue.
I am having this same issue. It ONLY happens with the Apple TV unit. I have Netflix that I stream through a Roku box....no issues. It is ONLY when I try to stream through the Apple TV unit. Same with music.....ONLY have issues with the Apple tv unit.
