icloude photo sharing taking up memory on subscriber phone

A friend of mine had to unsubscribe from my share photo album because it took too much memory on her 16GB iphone. Is there a way to share a photo album without it taking up space on his/her phone? The videos are streamed, can the same be done with photos?
