Apple techs did a clean install of Mavericks which I had not yet updated to for many reasons. They replaced my graphics card. I do have everything backed up. What I want to do is go back to using my computer the way it was but I can't find the old system folder. What should I do?

What application was used to make the backup?
Did you make a backup of your entire computer system on a external drive and what application did you use to make this backup?
Ttime Machine to an external drive.
Do a backup, preferable 2 separate ones on 2 drives. Boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart or hold down the option/alt key during a restart and select Recovery Volume). Run Disk Utility Verify/Repair and Repair Permissions until you get no errors. Then restore from Time Machine.
I did follow the directions (duh) for using Time Machine to reinstall an entire backup and it worked. Sigh of relief!
