When opening PDF´s, my MBP is unable to read them (when size is moderate about 5 or more mb), how can i fix?

When I open a PDF that has a moderate size (>5mb or when it contains a page format >A4), the rainbow wheel appears, and doesn't let me zoom, move or see the PDF properly. I have to force out of the fast view in order to continue using my computer without further problems.
MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)
