Can't hide artwork or see column headings on 12.2 playlists

After upgrading to 12.2 on my MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) running Yosemitie, all playlists I now create default to showing a list that includes the album artwork in the left column, which means I can only view about 10 tracks at a time (made worse by the banner at the top that you cannot remove). The new playlists also do not show the column headings. My old playlists still have column headings and do not show a column of artwork, but I'm not sure why I can't replicate this for any new playlists.

Previous iTunes versions allowed you to hide artwork, but I cannot find in 12.2 where to hide the artwork in playlists.

Also in previous iTunes version I remember being allowed to choose what columns showed up in playlists, but cannot find that feature either.

Any ideas?

That's great . . . how about hiding artwork for Home Videos? It's not one of the things you can uncheck under "View Options," and there's no comparable "Playlist" or "Songs" thing to click as there is in music.

Any ideas? Please?

I think I have the same problem (and a solution!)

If you're on a playlist, look in the top-right corner where a dropdown likely says "Playlist"

Change this to "Songs" to get the traditional view (with custom columns, etc.)

"Albums" and "Artists" give other legacy iTunes views.

Thanks for the tip. I wish Apple would be more careful with Playlist functionality. I rely on it to keep my tracks organized.

This shows the column browser which is half the problem. Now how do we hide the playlist artwork so I just see the column browser (top) and tracks (below)?

Yep, it works! So, big thanks! Artwork is fun, but it certainly is not the stuff that makes music. And with about 110 Gb of music (the sole reason why I had to go for the most expensive iPhone 6 (the iPod it apparently at the end of its career ;-( all those tiny pictures can be soon annoying.....

This helped me. Spent hours and could not figure it out. Many thanks. Shame that Apple make changes that dramatically alter things and leave us to figure it out.

Now - about that **** banner that takes up so much space - any idea how to get rid of that?
