8.4 Broke my Pioneer CarPlay.

Question

8.4 Broke my Pioneer CarPlay.

After upgrading to version 8.4, CarPlay does not work anymore... Or rather ... The radio becomes unusable. Becomes sluggish and eventually flips out totally.

I "Forgot" the AV tuner and tried again. This time it seemed to work for one time and then ... Bam! Radio flip out again.

Seems that the "use CarPlay while phone is locked" makes it even worse .... Tried it with the setting on and off and it seems to be worse if it is on

anyone else have this problem ?

Any idea how to fix it ?

iPhone 6, iOS 8.4

Yep - Me too - I have the Pioneer AVIC-F60DAB. Exactly the same symptoms as you. Will be watching with interest.

Asked me what changed... I replied that I upgraded to 8.4..... They replied.... There's your problem !

Pioneer F60DAB too. Connecting to CarPlay causes freezes, reboots, and when it does connect, causes playback dropouts too.

Restarting the phone occasionally fixes it.... Until the next time I have to connect.

All since the 8.4 update. Gonna do a full restore, but looking forward to the 8.4.1 update in the next few days....

Full restore done, problem unchanged. Definitely broken with 8.4 now. Going to have to use an old 5s still on 8.3 as a glorified iPod till a fix comes

Yep.... Also tried the full reload, but it did not work. Totally useless now. Can't use the phone, maps or any of the apps for app radio either....

Quite frustrating really as I spend a lot of time behind the wheel.

It will be interesting to see if anyone from Apple will respond...

Not here, they won't.

I'd still be willing to bet money that the head unit will need an update.

mysteriously it started working perfectly last night. I experienced all the same symptoms of above and now it's fine?

Wow... seriously? How long ago did you buy it?

I can see a class action lawsuit coming... Pioneer used to be a good company.

It'll take an hour or two but get in quick and reinstall 8.3 whilst you can. I had all the same problems as above with 8.4 but there is no way I was going to wait around a month or more for a fix. Reinstalled 8.3 and Carplay is its old self again. Now over to Apple for a fix.....

I have a Pioneer AVIC-6000NEX, and 8.4 also broke CarPlay. Pioneer Customer Service was of no use. Apple has no Customer Service.

Pioneer released a new firmware, version 1.10, a few days ago, which I was hoping would fix the problem, but it did not.

I'm hoping an update to 8.4 is released, instead of having to wait for iOS 9, to see if that fixes the problem. Very frustrating to be in this mess.

it is not apples fault. it is pioneers. i had a standard bluetooth deck and i apply the update to get meta data back and now no radio. they do not want to admit fault.

I am sorry but you are wrong.... Before Apple released 8.4 everything was working perfectly. At no point did I upgrade or change anything on the radio that can blame the issue on Pioneer. The only thing that changed was the phone upgrade to 8.4.....

How can it NOT BE Apple's fault ?

Pioneer didn't stick to the interface guidelines that Apple published. If they had, it wouldn't have broken with a simple point upgrade to iOS.
