Q: How to Reset Default Address Book -- after Cobook

Once upon a time, I found Cobook to be an awesome way to manage my contacts. It sits on top of my Mac's Contacts, providing a superior user interface via toolbar dropdown, syncing via iCloud to my iOS devices and managing all my Groups very well. Then FullContact bought out Cobook. The result has been an absolute nightmare. I won't describe the whole issue just yet. The main thing I need help with right now is to reset my MacBook Pro's "default address book." It is set to Cobook. Here's the impact of having a default address book:

In Mail, I click on someone in the "to:" field, and from the popup menu, I choose "Show Contact Card." A popup window appears and invites me to open the person's card with Cobook. I no longer want Cobook to be my default address book. I want to switch it back to "Contacts."

Originally, the Cobook preferences allowed me to switch the default Address Book. Here's what the preference pane used to look like.

However, since Full Contact got involved, the Default address book option is gone from Cobook's preferences:

Does anyone know another way to change the default address book back to it's original state?

At present, I've dumped FullContact and Cobook is running well, so I don't have an urgent need to change anything. However, I'd like to do be able to do so in the future. There must be some sort of Terminal command that would reset this.

Still having this same issue, even after installing El Capitan. Yet another impact:

Safari > Preferences > AutoFill > AutoFill Web Forms > Edit

brings up Cobook rather than Apple contacts. Surely there is a switch or preference somewhere that is causing this behavior. Can anyone give me a clue?

P.S. I'm not getting any responses here. Should I be posting somewhere else?

Have you tried deleting Cobook using the developer's uninstall instructions?

Thanks, Eric. I haven't tried deleting Cobook for two reasons:

    1. It's still useful to me. There are some things that it still does very well and I don't want to lose it. I just don't want my Mac to see it as the default address book.

    2. The manufacturer no longer exists, so there are not uninstall instructions from the developers. I wish I could get in touch with the original developers. I'm sure they could easily solve my problem, but the company that bought them out -- Full Contact -- has been unhelpful when I've posed exactly these questions to them, and they have declined to put me in touch with the original developers.

    Thanks for your idea, though.

Hi Rick - I have the very same problem. Did you find a solution? If yes, can you please share it here? Thanks a lot

This problem persists. I think it might even be contributing to new problems related to Contacts under Sierra. I still think there must be a Terminal command to fix this. Can anyone point me to someone/something that can help?
