If you use RAW imagery from a camera, Apple has this to say about 10.10 and RAW:

Generally speaking you can get the images off any camera, using a digital media card reader either on a multifunction printer, or via USB from Sansdisk if your Mac does not have a built-in SD card. Those with built-in SD cards can only use SD cards through the built-in port, but USB card readers exist for nearly every format.
