"can I mount a zip disk for mac os x yosemite?"

I have an old iomega Zip 100 drive and was wondering if I could mount my zip disks on my imac running OS X Yosemite.

Can anyone please help?

Thanks,

Dave

If that's the model with the USB connector I think it should 'just work' when you plug it in, no special drivers needed. You might want to test it with a blank Zip cartridge to make sure it still works. ISTR the drives used to have a 'click of death' failure mode that damaged the media.

You can still buy Zip drives for less than $100, so if what's on your cartridges is valuable you might want to consider buying a new one.

Broadly speaking you should always migrate data to current storage technology. Zip drives had their time in the sun more than a decade ago and that's long enough for a lot of 'bit rot' to have occurred.
