Missing songs and playlist

I updated to the latest iTunes on my computer. BIG MISTAKE. No songs, no playlists. I followed instructions to recover library (copy to desktop, find latest library etc) and although some songs have been located, not all have. Also most songs are listed only by song name with no details of the artist or album. And there are NO PLAYLISTS. I use my iTunes library to put a radio show together for a community radio station. If this is not fixed soon I'll have to reload all my music (400 cd's) - and it WONT be on iTunes!!!
