Database error: failed to persist master

When trying to import photos from phone or camera I get this error, and no pictures upload. Database error: failed to persist master

My library on my photos on my MacBook has never updated to match my ,,"moments" that show up on all of my devices. I have thcurrent iOS and all updates to all programs.

MacBook (13-inch Aluminum Late 2008), OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)

I had the same problem and found a solution at http://forums.appleinsider.com/t/186616/database-error-failed-to-persist-master

If you can't go there, then the answer is quit Photos and restart while holding down Command and ALT followed by choosing to Repair database. Repair also brings up Photos with the new pictures in it.
