It seems my mail application has crashed. What do I do

IT seems my mail app has crashed. What do I do. I have restarted my iPad but I this problem still persists. When I touch the mail icon it goes blank. I receive mail notification but i can't open the mail or see the mail that comes in. Please help

As well as rebooting your iPad have you also tried closing the Mail app via the iPad's taskbar and seeing if it works when you re-open it : Force an app to close in iOS - Apple Support ?
