Whilst using the internet yesterday I received this message:
I phoned the number and they were asking to access my computer. I didn't allow them. Is this a genuine message and will my computer be infected? Thanks in advance.

It's a phishing scam. Do not respond or allow access to your computer (you didn't - good!)
How to report other phishing incidents to Apple:
Force quit Safari from the menu and reopen with the shift key held down. If that doesn’t work, disconnect from the Internet, open Safari, and then reconnect to the Internet. See link for other suggestions.
Please don't waste your time or Apple's by reporting this incident. Only report incidents in which a scammer impersonates Apple by name in email. That didn't happen here.
