imovie - deleted original video clips now won't play

I have made a movie using iMovie from video clips on my iPad. Unfortunately I forgot to export it to camera roll before I deleted the original video clips from the camera roll (the original video clips are now on my iMac). The movie is still visible in the projects section of iMovie but when you try to play it is says the video clips are unavailable. Is there a way of putting the original video clips back on my iPad so that iMovie can search for them and I can then export the iMovie to camera roll? Or is there another solution?
