When warranty starts?

Hi there, im looking for another 5s, but i want to buy it brand new and to check if it still go warranty covered, but apple support page shows that iphone has not been activated, while other imei checking links shows that warranty is expired. So maybe there is possible somehow to check warranty at official apple support without activating it?

The warranty starts when you purchase the phone:


...period of ONE (1) YEAR from the date of original retail purchase...
