How to permanently remove "Mobile Applications" iTunes folder

Hello,

is there any possibility to permanently remove "Mobile Applications" iTunes folder?

I want to get rid of it for good. It takes up too much space on my MacBook Pro with low capacity SSD disk. Is there any option to forbid iTunes to backup apps in this folder?

Thank you very much for your thorough answers and constructive replies and have a nice day.

OJ.
