How to delete individual items one by one from my icloud backup?

I backed up my previous ipad3 on icloud and now, using my icloud 4, I'm told my icloud storage is full (5GB).

The ipad 3 back up is occupying 3GB worth of space.

I dont want to buy extra storage because I dont need it.

What I want to do is access the individual items and start deleting the documents or photos one by one which I no longer want to keep.

I would like to do this on my ipad which is ios 8 I think.

Also, I would like to download some of the documents/photos from icloud storage unto my ipad 4.

Please help?

Also, at the moment, I don't even know how to access them, so how do I make use of them, or even delete them?

The only thing you can do with a back up is to restore a device that has been erased, you cannot see any of the files within it.

I'm sorry but I don't think I understand your answer.

I backed up my ipad 3 into icloud hoping to download the contents into my new icloud 4.

I have since lost the ipad 3. And now I need to access the documents and photos which I back-up from it.

Surely this should be possible, the way you save items from your old PC unto a hard drive so you can download them unto a new PC?

Restore the backup.

You have to use the back up to restore a new device, you can't just open it up and pull files out of it.

why is it not possible? I'm trying to do the same thing. I know there are songs, photos, and apps that I don't use anymore that are taking up space in my iCloud storage...

You can not do what you want using Apples tools. So find another backup method that allows what you want.

You're going about it the wrong way. You can't fiddle with your existing back up files (good job really, most would make a complete mess of things), but what you can do is deselect some items to be included in your next back up and then back up again.
