Backup Photos app to Hard Drive?

How can i backup all my photos to hard drive. i have 512GB SSD and i need to delete some of my photos and i want to backup.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)

A back up is a copy of data in (at least) two locations. So, if you're going to move data and then delete it from the original location that is not a back up. So exactly what do you want to do?

i would like to move data to an external hard drive. is it possible to do this via photos app?

Only a part of the Library? Not easily.

Basically you would need to make a copy of the whole library on the external, and then manually delete from the internal those images you don't want.
