logging in to Google IMAP and btinternet.com SMTP fails.We are being told to check username and password which we have not changed

log in to Google IMAP and btinternet.com SMTP failing,being told to check user name and password which we have not altered. Mail coming through on iPhones without problem

iMac, iOS 8.1.3
