Unable to Drag & Drop Photos from Photos App into FCP 10.2.1

Good Morning,

I'm trying to create a video using still pictures and a few videos taken on iPhone's. Prior to upgrading the the photos app on my macbook, I was using the latest version of Aperture. I was able to simply drag and drop photos into FCPX from Aperture. Since I have now upgraded, I'm unable to complete this task. Does anyone know if Im missing anything, or is this a core change?

IIt's working for me. What exactly are you doing? Where are you dragging to? Post screen shots if you can.

Morning Tom,

Here are some screenshots. It did not show it really well, however the three screenshots are showing that I'm dragging it from different folders in Photos. "All Photos", "Smart Album", and "Folder".

I also tried dragging the project folder in the top left and in the timeline below as you can see.

Any thoughts you might have would be appreciated

You can't drag from one application too the other. That's why FCP has a Photos browser. The camera icon in the toolbar. This gives you access to Aperture, Photos, and iPhotos library. You drag from the Photos browser inside FCP into the project or into the event browser.

You can also drag photos and video clips from a photos app directly to an event in the Libraries list or a project in the Timeline, without using the Photos Browser.

You should be able to do this and you cannot.

TThat's right. That's what this whole thread is about. It works in iPhoto. It works in Aperture. It doesn't work in Photos.

He was talking about Photos App and that is the current Apple support page for this as I am having the same problem. As for the photo browser it seems not be working very well for me. Large photo library will not load nor show thumbnails just a black space. If you click on it it may open an album and then show thumbs. Tell me am I reading it wrong You can also drag photos and video clips from a photos app directly to an event in the Libraries list or a project in the Timeline, without using the Photos Browser.

Maybe you could show a screen shot of what you're seeing. You should see something like this.

You're not reading it wrong. It doesn't work with Photos. That's want we've been saying since this morning.

Yes thats what I would expect but getting this big blank area...if I click in there I will get a random album that will load

You're looking at a popup. There is a separator bar which divides the browser. You can see it in my screen shot. You need to pull that separator down to divide the albums from the display area.

When the browser is collapsed it's this bar here that you have to pull down

That will change the popup into folders with disclosure triangles.

Yep spot on! The littlest things sometimes. Thanks Tom!! It is now showing all, aperture and the old iPhoto album. Perfect as some of the old video on iPhoto is file missing on photo apps.
