iPad side bar

I have a sidebar with bookmarks, notifications etc on the left handed side on my iPad Air but cannot find a way to remove it. Please can anyone help?

Mac mini, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

Swipe down on the right side of the screen to reveal the Bookmark icon at the top left of the screen (if hidden). Touch the Bookmark icon to hide the sidebar.
