Very, very frequent FREEZING UP of computer

I've been increasingly plagued by extremely frequent freezing-up of my computer, which has gotten terrible. And unending.

Recently I started opening up the "Activity Monitor" -- which is way over my head -- to try to spot anything useful to know or do during a freeze.

I happened to have it open earlier today during a freeze-up, and noticed that the "kernsl_task" had shot to the top of the %-of-CPU-used list... registering an amazing 101%!

I then came out on here and saw a suggestion to report problems on here WITH EtreCheck. I got it & ran it. Then, a bit later during another computer stall (spinning rainbow ball of doom), I was able to run a second EtreCheck while part of the computer was still in the stall.

I have included both reports below. I can understand only a very little of what is printed out, but CLEARLY I have troubles indicated.

TROUBLE with both System Launch Agents & System Launch Daemons. And that's only what I can easily see.

I am at wits end with this (I'd gotten CleanMyMac3 & used it to clean up my hard drive & to fix a damaged section of startup), but nothing I've done to date has had any impact on this frequent freezing.

I am planning to upgrade to the best 16 GB's RAM I can buy, as well as to switch over to either a 250 or 500 GB SSD.

**** ANY cogent suggestions would be deeply appreciated.**** (AM Considering taking it to the Apple Store & having it wiped & starting over.)

Thanks!
Giles

Hello.

I have a very similar total freeze issue with a same early 2011 [15'] macbook pro [running Maverick]

computer was great until i installed security update 2015-005! something must have went very wrong during that security update.

it is not a CPU problem but Memory pressure shooting up to the top red of the 8GB that i have. This with all apps closed. MDWorker start doing something like 3 -4 processes 3 - 400MB each and Kernel task reach 4 - 5 GB. also the computer has now static electric feel when i touch it

i have Time-Machine the whole volume the a day earlier when all was good, this didn't help, then i re-installed Maverick with the Recovery disc. this didn't help as well!

I used bootcamp to check in Windows that all the hardware is intact and the computer works fine in Windows, I also scanned the Memory there and found no problems. i wanted to upgrade to Yosemite thinking this may help, but i can't do that from the recovery disc, and the memory cards i fear may burn up if i try to download from within the OX

it appears[to my logic] to be an error in the Mac firm-ware that can be addressed from the Terminal only! can someone please suggest how to go about that? this may well be the direction for solution for the original post total freeze problem

with many thanks

akash
