New in box Macbook Pro 13 inch purchased in December 2014, haven't opened box yet. Any potential problem?

New in box Macbook Pro 13 inch purchased in December 2014, haven't opened box yet. Was a gift for my wife. She was like "meh" about it, I'm tired of looking at this expensive doorstop and am going to use it myself, I guess. It is a model A1278 with 13.3/2.9/2X4GB/1TB/SD. Any potential problem? Would Apple take it back unopened and give me credit? Would rather latest model.

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2012), iOS 8.4

You can return a Mac within 14 days of purchase.

After 14 days, Apple will not take it back.


Charge the battery to full before start using it.
