Photos for Macselect a small group and rotate 90 degrees then rotate back - doe this resolve the issue? If so to it for your library in medium to large groups

Photos for Macit works, but doesn't answer the question of why in the world i would have to go thru all of this.
Sometimes a library's database gets damaged and doesn't covert correctly.
You can try more at a time but some users have reported getting a time out failure when trying to do their entire library. I was able to rotate a library of 4700 photos/videos at one time. Each rotate took about 1 minute. However, many of the thumbnails didn't actually complete the rotation until some time after the progress bar finished and closed.
I had to repair my library after the two rotations were completed as some photos ended up unside down. However, the repair fixed it.
